Bleeding From Anus During Bowel Movements. Abdominal X-ray Shows Nothing Acute. Treatment?

My wife has been bleeding from her anus during bowel movements. She reports they are painless. Her doc examined and ruled out fissures and hemmoroids. Ordered a abdominal xray which came back as ``nothing acute . A colonoscopy has been ordered. The bleeding is moderate and not spotting. I am quite worried. She often will go several days or a week without a bowel movement. What might be causing this ? Thank you

Hello
Thanks for your query. You have not mentioned age of your wife Hope she is not elderly.Since she has painless bleeding and your Dr has ruled out Fissure and Hemorrhoids Most likely she may have Rectal Polyp or diverticulitis of colon which can be confirmed only on Colonoscopy.Since you have planned for Colonoscopy Do not worry this can be treated with good results.
