Bloating, Pain Under Left Side Of Belly. Taking Petnasa, Hctz. Side Effect?

Yes, please.
I have been taking Pentasa er for Crohns disease for several years, with good results. I started taking hctz, very recently. I had bloating & left side of under belly pain. I wonder which pill may be causing it. I stopped the HCTZ & the pain is gone, but I wonder if that was really the cause. How do I determine the real cause?

Hi, you are using pentasa ER, since several years, started taking hctz recently and had bloating and abdominal pain. when you stopped it they have stopped, so it is clear that the side effects are due to the recent hctz only.
So there is no reason for you to worry or wonder about. Now you are free of any side effects and happy about the Pentasa ER. Thank you.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
As you mentioned that pentasa is from long time without any side effect.
Now you added HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE i.e. hctz and causes pain in abdomen .
Once drug stopped pain gone so this was the reason of pain in abdomen.
The side effects of hctz are anorexia, gastric irritation, nausea , vomiting,constipation , diarrhea, volume depletion,dizziness beside others.
In my opinion consult your treating doctor and get his opinion for any substitute of hctz .
