Blood After Passing Stools, Occurs After Moving, Performing Physical Activity. Causes?
I have been finding blood in my shorts. It usually happens after a bowel movemnet, but not right away. Many times I have taken a shower, but after I do an activity or movement I know that something has happened because I can feel the dampness in my shorts. I will go to the bathroom and need to wipe and find blood on the toilet paper. Many times I will find blood on my shorts.
Hello Thomas,
Your lower digestive tract needs to be examined closely. The origin of the hematochezia is usually as from the large intestine up to your anus. Intestinal infections generally such as salmonellosis, shigella, enterotoxigenic E. coli, worms etc could be held responsible. So a stool exams + culture would be indicated here.
The other non-infectious causes could be anorectal tumor (likely with advanced age), anal fissure (not likely as you feel no pain during defecation), internal hemorrhoid ( very like as might be painless and non-protruding). A colposcopy will be indicated in this situation.
You need to consult a visceral surgeon as soon as possible for prompt diagnosis and management. A visit into an emergency room would be wise of you at this moment.
The most common reason of such bleeding are hemorrhoids. Bowel movement when hard enough can irritated or tear such hemorrhoid resulting with bleeding.
However this is the most possible reason, all other like rectal polyps should be ruled out. Therefore colonoscopy should be performed. If colonoscopy will show nothing than hemorrhoids you may start the treatment. You should avoid constipations, increase fiber rich products and mineral water intake. Sitz baths with Quercus Cortex and prescription free suppositories for hemorrhoids might be helpful as well.
Hope this will help.
Regards.
