Blood In Stool After Delivery, Not Present During Pregnancy. Diagnosed As Hemorrhoids. Suggestions?
I have had moderate blood (bright red so not from further up the colon) in my stools after having my son. My Dr. said it was hemorrhoids. This was 10 years ago now. I have since had 2 children and during pregnancy the blood disappears. I am starting to worry a little now since this has been going on for 10 years minus the 2 additional pregnancies. I do not have health ins for another 6 months (graduating with my BSN in August) so I really cannot afford to get a work-up
Hi thanks for your question.
You are having haemorrides with occiosnal bleeding.Haemorrides do get enlarged during pregnancy and can bleed any time, during pregnancy or post delivery. There are two ways of treatment of haemorrides. No 1 Medical,in which medicine and fiber diet is prescribed to treat the haemorrides.Grade 1 and grade 11 respond to well to medical treatment. No 2 Surgical, in this either banding is done(usually for grade 11) or haemorride masess removed surgically.Your problems doesn't seems to be so serious that it needs immediate surgical intervention. You can manage it by medical means and can wait for surgical treatment till you have insurence available.
Hope this answers your question.
