Blood In Stools After Consuming Caffeine. Related?

Hi and thank you for taking a minute to answer a concern. Whenever I consume a lot of caffeine I notice I get blood in my stools. I asked my doc to get me an appointment for a colon scope and am waiting to get the appointment. But I am wondering if there is any known correlation of coffee/energy-drink consumption and bright bloody red stools. My doctor does know anything about it. I am hoping to find some answer along these lines. Thank you.

Hello,
Thank you for posting.
I have read the query and from that I have understood that you have blood in stool. But the thing is you didnt mentioned about the color of the blood. If it is bright red then the cause may be in your lower gi tract. But if the color is dark red then the cause is from upper gi tract and the stool is usually sticky in those cases.Caffeine increases the gastric secretion which leads to ulcers in the stomach and in those cases you will see blood in stools. As you are going for a colonoscope hope you will get the answer soon.Thank you.
