Blood In Urine. No Pain, Discomfort. Reason?

My husband is 74 years of age. Healthy and still working, has a part job delivering the mail....this am he had a a lot of blood in his urine . Never happened before, no pain or discomfort. What could be causing this? Said as soon as he completed his responsibilities (working) today we would go to the emergency room. I am worried sick!

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your husband has painless hematuria. This can be due to either some tumour in the Bladder or due to Enlarged Prostate which is common at this age.
Please consult qualified urologist for clinical examination and further investigations like--
Ultrasound Scanning of the abdomen.
Endoscopic examination of Bladder ( Cystoscopy)
