Blood Test For Silica Disease Came Back Positive. Can It Cause Sensitive Tummy?

I am a 43 year old married mother of 2 teenage boys, my problem is my tummy, it has always been very sensitive, I often end up either bloated or have quite bad pain at any time of the day, there is really nothing I can put my finger on that sets it off, it can even happen if I drink to much water, I used to suffer from quite bad constipation but I have had that under control for a number of years now by eating nuts on my cereal, this helps a lot. I am 5foot 3& 58kg. A few years ago I had a blood test to check for silica disease & 1 component of the test came back positive but I didn t follow up with gasoctomy test so maybe this is my problem, what else do you think could cause my problem? Thanks Allison aggenbach

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Silicosis is known to produce a variety of gastrointestinal disturbances via alteration in gut flora system, hormone pathway as well as immune histocompatibility issues through HLA subtypes.

Best thing recommended from this platform is to consult an expert endocrinologist for further work up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
