Blood Test Negative, Urine Test Positive, Have Taken Mefenamic Acid. Could This Have Made False Result?
I ve taken several pregnancy tests and had positive results my doctor sent urine test off came back positive .. My blood test came back negative and urine tests positive still at home ... I ve taken mefenamic acid could this make a false positive pregancy test result? Or am I actually pregnant
Hi, Thanks for the query. Blood test for pregnancy usually gives accurate result compared with urine test. But sometimes because of some causes like agglutination phenomenon etc, blood test can give false negative result. If you are below 5 weeks of gestation, once repeat blood test for pregnancy. Prefer quantitative blood test. If you are more than 5 weeks of gestation, go for ultrasound. Ultrasound can detect the gestational sac after 5 completed weeks of gestation. Then according to the ultrasound report, you can plan further management. Take care.
