Blood Test Results Potassium Too High, Taking Potassium Pill Everyday. What Are The Side Effects?

I have just talked to my doctor s office after results of blood test. They say my potassium is too high.60 year old woman taking potassium pill every day among other vitamins and prescriptions. What side effects of too high potassium? they want to retest.

ITS CALLED HYPERKALEMIA.

Side effects include fatigue ,weakness and if potassium is on a much higher side ,it will produce a decrease in heart rate.

IF POTASSIUM IS TOO HIGH, you will have to be continously monitored by ECG to check for any changes in the conduction of heart.

Usually hyperkalemia is uncommon ,it may be due to false lab results also.

But if you feel any of the symptoms, stop potassium medications and consult your physician ,who will monitor your ECG.
