Breakthrough Bleeding Between Periods. Thick Endometrium With Small Cyst Found. Advised Hystreoscopy. Test For Cancer?
I had an abortion 18 years ago at approx 12 weeks. I now have breakthrough bleeding between my periods for the last 5 months, clotted type blood but not much of it. I have had chlamydia test and smear - all clear, pelvic ultrasound shows slightly thickened endometrium at 12mm containing a small cystic area (not pregnancy), I was mid cycle for this and was told it is normal for the time of my cycle to show these? The doctor is referring me for a hystreoscopy? To do a biopsy and "check cells" - she was quite evasive to my questions. Is this a test for Cancer? Could this be linked to the abortion? I'm confused and scared..
Yes, this could be a test for cancer or other abnormalities of the endometrium (inner lining of the uterus) or the uterus itself to find the exact cause.
This is nothing relating to pregnancy or abortion. Please go ahead with the test ma'am. I wish you would have mentioned your age, to which I could have advised the appropriate treatment. But I am sure your doctor wjll help you with treatment options based on the diagnosis or you could always write back to us for more assistance.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
