Bruising, Cellulitis Formed After Accident. Pain Under Rib Cage While Coughing, Sneezing. Medical Help Required?
I was in a car accident 2 1/2 weeks ago. I was the passenger in the front seat. I hit the seat belt clasp with my left hip. I had massave bruising and cellulitis formed. It is almost gone. But i am experiencing pain under my rib cage when i cough and sneeze. I am trying to figure out if i should go to the emergency room and see if anything else is wrong...
Pain under the rib cage while coughing or sneezing indicates a muscle strain as the violent contraction produced during coughing causes more pain.
I suggest you to apply local moist heat fomentation over the painful area to relax the involved muscle. Over the counter pain killer cream will reduce the pain, which should be massaged gently over the affected area.
If you dont find any relief with the above measures, consult your treating doctor for further management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
