Bulge Formed On Ribs While Pushing Weight, Painful. Had Separated Cartilage In Ribs Years Ago. Suggestions?

Many years ago I separated the cartilage in my ribs. Healed up just fine, but a few years ago a bulge formed on the ribs and when I was pushing on a heavy object at work it sort of popped out farther and hurt quite a bit.In the few years since then it has grown to the size of a golf ball and has been lately painfull - no other symtoms.

Hello,

Trauma to the ribs heals well on its own.
But what concerns he is the swelling and pain at the area.
In this situation I would advise my patient to
Give rest to the area
Analgesic for pain.
X ray/ CT scan of the chest to find the cause of the swelling and treatment will be based of the cause of the swelling.
I find this answer helpful
