Hi, I m 16 and I have a question but I m too embarrassed to as. The skin in between my legs burn , like right on the sides of the opening of vagina . It burns really bad, especially when I shower and wash down there. I was thinking maybe it could be herpes , but there s no bumps and it is just scaly, red, skin that burns all day to the touch. whay can this be? im sexually active and have anemia , if that had anything to do with it. please help?

Given the fact that you didnt notice any bumps or have no bumps, herpes is not very likely. Often with friction and heat in between the legs or other areas like the armpit, beneath the breast etc, the skin may slough-off, become infected and red and painful. It may also be due to skin fungal infection for which you will need medication. I don't think it has anything to do with the anemia.
So preferably see a physician for proper examination and investigation. By the way, I hope you are practicing safe sex.

Dr Mbong
