Burning Pain, Numbness After Doing EMG On Hands. Any Damage To Nerves?
I had a EMG done on my hands.. When he did the needle on my left hand ...it felt like my arm and hand was on fire...when he did the right hand I didn t feel anything....today is the four day and I have burning, numbing and pain still in my left hand and arm... Do you think he damage a nerve ? He did say he had the voltage too high and he finish the test with low voltage..
As such in general EMG doesnt have any side effects.the procedure consists of inserting a needle into muscle.Normal muscles at rest make certain, normal electrical signals when the needle is inserted into them. Then the electrical activity when the muscle is at rest is studied.

Burning Pain, Numbness After Doing EMG On Hands. Any Damage To Nerves?
hi, Thank you for your query. As such in general EMG doesnt have any side effects.the procedure consists of inserting a needle into muscle.Normal muscles at rest make certain, normal electrical signals when the needle is inserted into them. Then the electrical activity when the muscle is at rest is studied. As far as generalized numbness burning pain is concerned it may be due to anxiety disorder, low calcium level, neuropathy, vitamin B deficiency, multiple sclerosis, TIA etc. if the symptoms persist more than a week then i would suggest you to consult your physician. thank you, wishing you good health.
