Bypass Surgery Done. Under Sedation. Breathing Normally. CT Scan Shows No Sign Of Heart Stroke. Suggestion?

My father 61 ,smoker,had five by pass surgery six days ago. Surgery went great , how ever he pulled vent tube out and they had to reubtubate. Every time they try to take him off sedation he gets really worked up. He s breathing 100 % own . He doesn't follow basic commands. Ct scan showed no sign of stroke. Bp stable130.just want to know what is going on, why they can't get him calm enough to wake up and get tube out.

Thank you for posting your query.
As you said, it is not clear, why the doctors want him to be on mechanical ventilator. The ventilatory support is required, if the person has a large brain stroke, or if there are problems with heart or lung functions. i am assuming that he has no brain stroke, as you said the scans are normal.
In that case, it could be a cardiac or respiratory problem, making it necessary for him to be on ventilator.
In any case, we expect good recovery in his case, as his CT scan is normal, and he should be weaned off the ventilator soon.
