Can Amoxicillin Be Taken While On Augmentin?

Hello. My step daughter started running a fever today of 102. Her Mom gave her 5ml of Augmentine that her sister got prescribed for kidney infection yesterday. She has a doctors appointment tomorrow but my concern is..if she gets prescribed amoxicillin for strep or something will she have a bad reaction with the 2 medications in her system? Thank you

Actually Augmentin is nothing but Amoxicillin plus Clauvulinic acid. The latter adjunct covers some other dangerous pathogens that can cause infection[-you didn't mention the site of infection]. If that 5 ml of Augmentin didn't contain enough Amoxycillin for the weight of your stepchild, additional amoxicillin will have to be prescribed. Otherwise even there is no need of extra Amoxycillin, single or even two doses of Amoxycillin will not be of much concern So stay cozy.
