Can Avanza Be Taken To Induce Sleep?

How long after having Serotonin Syndrome/Poisoning can I have another Avanza tablet? I had 90mg Avanza, as prescribed by my doctor, which was far too much, which I didn't know, on Sunday evening and spent 2 nights in hospital due to the poisoning. I have had hardly any sleep since Sunday, and want to know if I can take one of my 45mg tablets of Avanza to sleep tonight?

Dear HCM user

Since you are telling that you suffered from serotonin syndrome 2 days back and had to be hospitalised I will advice you against self treating yourself. With mirtazapine there is less chance of such complication. However since you had it please refrain from SSRI medication for some time. Your treating psychiatrist will put you on some other group of medication for your sleep problems in the meanwhile like benzodiazepines. Serotonin syndrome is a serious complication and you should not take any risk. After few weeks SSRI can be started again after evaluation.
