Can Azithromycin Be Taken Along With Metronidazole?

Hi, my name is Marlena and my doctor proscribed me Metronidazole tab 500mg 2 pill each day for a week. Today July 31, 2015 makes 5 days I been on it. Today I was told I had chlamdia and was proscribed azithromycin tabs 500mg 2 pills at once. I took the Metronidazole around 6, is it okay to take the azithromycin tonight at 10:30? And will both pills work correctly if I take the azithromycin today?

Hello, welcome to HCM. You were taking metronidazole for the disease but it didnot get relieved. so please stop metronidazole and can take azithromycin. The tablet azithromycin is given for the cause after it is detected. Please take the tablet one pill daily and should be taken for a week. Few organisms rwill be supressed with few antibiotics. Depending on that the antibiotic has been changed.I hope i have clarified your doubt. Take care, Good health
