Hello
She is taking hydrocodone for dental surgery . Now she is having pain and swelling with itching in hands and thumb.
This type of swelling may be due to hard work with hands and fingers including thumb .
Naturally when swelling develop , this causes pain and also itching on affected parts as may be in your girl friend case.
So alone benadryl will not provide relief .
Take aceclofenac ( like zerodol cr 200 mg ) with benadryl for 2-3 days or till complete relief.
But rest is also important .
If no relief within 3-4 days , then consult an orthopedic surgeon and get his opinion.
Good luck.
