Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an episode of afib in December and just had a 24 hour holter monitor done. My cardiologist informed me that the fluttering I was feeling is from PVC, not afib. He wants me to stop taking the cardizem. Can I quit cold turkey? I take it twice a day.
Diltiazem is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing the muscles of your heart and blood vessels. As I see you are not taking a high dose of Cardizem, then going off it cold turkey shouldn't be a problem.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
