Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Cefpoxime And Fepanil Cure Baby's Loose Motion, Vomiting, And Fever?
Baby of 22 months suffering from loose motion (only twice a day but very loose) and vomitings and high fever. Doctor gave a medicine for vomiting and an antibiotic (cefpoxime 50mg), a probiotic as well. And Fepanil for fever. 1 day is over but fever did not subside. No sign of motion or vomiting yet becoz baby has not taken much food to judge. Please help if the above medicines can cure the baby.
I am so sorry to hear about what your baby is going through. This is a powerful antibiotic that can typically take care of most infections of the digestive tract. However, most diarrhea episodes are caused by viruses and never really require antibiotics. The main stay of treatment is replacing all he fluid losses and controlling for symptoms like fever and vomiting. If you think vomiting is severe enough that oral intake is compromised, it may be a reason to get the baby for intravenous fluid replacements. Some symptoms of excess fluid loss are asthenia, weakness, weight loss, decreased urine production, sunken eyes, etc. If you should find any, please get the child for evaluation.
I hope you find this helpful. I wish you well. Please, feel free to ask for more information if need be. Thanks. Dr. Ditah, MD.
