Can Duphaston Taken Last Month Cause Late Period This Time Too?

Hi..my 14 year old daughter took Duphaston for 5 days from the 1st to 5th September (twice daily, 10 tablets in all)...as she had a dance performance. She got her period on 8th September. She should have got her next period on 8th October ...but she has not. She is overdue by a week. Could it be due to the Duphaston she had last month? Should I consult a doctor?

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. The most likely cause for this delay in the menstrual cycle is the hormone imbalance created due to the progesterone intake during the previous cycle. Once there is a disturbance in the natural cycle, it takes a few months for the pattern to restore. Also, considering her age, it is normal for irregularities to happen. Please wait for a week to see if the period occurs. If it does not, consult a gynecologist for further management. Hope your query has been clarified. Take care.
