Can Effexor Be Taken While On Gapentin?

i have numbness and tingling in my arm and legs and feet. my doctor gave me gabapentin to take. 300mg. i also take effexor. should i take gabapentin with an anti depressent? i have heard about the side effects on this med. and im not sure i want to take it.

It's not safe to take Effexor while on Gapentin.

Taking the antidepressant Effexor along with Gapentin may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, difficulty concentrating and motor coordination which may result in falls and injuries.

You should avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving, swimming or operating hazardous machinery.

Consult your treating doctor for an alternate effective medication for your nerve pain or to make dose adjustment of these medications.
