Can HCG Levels Vary Drastically Within A Couple Of Days?

I started having pregnancy symptoms a couple of weeks back so decided to take a blood test just to ease my mind a bit. Well, to my surprise my hcg level was 108. Anyhow, one week later decided to take another blood test and this time it came back 00,01. Had no diea what was going on so once again, another blood test --- hcg level: 00,01.... The same day that I had my third blood test I started bleeding my regular flow. So my question is: was I ever pregnant? If so, wouldnt it take a couple of weeks for the hcg level go back to 0?? Ughhhh! Cant figure out what went wrong! Please help!
