Can HIV Be Transmitted Despite Using A New Blade For Shaving?
Dear doctor, I would like to ask some questions to calm my anxiety. Yesterday, I went to trim my eyebrows. I have waited them for about 5mm. I saw that they changed the new blade (but with the same OLD blade-holder). I felt a little bit SORE after shaving. But I have checked and checked and didn t see any blood at all. I m very panic now and worry if I may infected by HIV virus, as I m afraid that there would be some infected blood from last person who used the same blade-holder as mine. Please reply my question. I knew it such a stupid question to ask since I knew it s a new blade, yet I still cannot calm my anxiety. Anyway, I m sorry for my poor English. I came from a Non English speaking country. Hope to see your reply Doctor. Best Regards, Aliz

Can HIV Be Transmitted Despite Using A New Blade For Shaving?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Your barber had changed the blade, so no issues to worry. Even if blood of previous person is there on the holder, HIV won t survive outside. Before putting the new blade, he would have cleaned the holder with antiseptic solution, you might have missed that. So, don t worry about the possibility of transmission. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Siddartha
