Can HIV Infection Be Transmitted Through Unprotected Sex?
My (now ex)girlfriend and I split up about two weeks ago. She had unprotected sex and I didn t find out about it until after we d been intimate again, several times, sometimes during her period. This was unprotected because we d both been tested. She and the person she slept with have both taken an hiv test and it was negative, but this was only two weeks after their encounter. Whats the likelihood the she or I have contracted HIV?
thank you for query. The chances of transmission of HIV by sexual route is 1/ 200 to 1/2000 even if the partner is HIV infected.it is more so if during the periods.if all partners are negative there are least likely chances of transmission.two weeks after exposure is not conclusive if antibody tests are done.if you still have anxiety you can go ahead with testing for HIV depending on period from exposure like PCR or antibody tests. You can get back for any clarifications with details.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and venereologist
