Can Hydrocodone And Diazepam Cause Any Problem Together?

Hello doctor and thank u for your time. I have a tooth that needs a root canal which I will be getting on Tuesday (the soonest the dentist could see me). However the tooth is giving me a LOT of continued pain and for this my dentist prescribed me hydrocodone APAP 7.5 / 325 mg. I have taken one and it helped only a little bit with comfort. my friend has offered me a 10 mg diazepam winch I understand is a hydrocodone as well and I was wondering if it would be acceptable to take it along with the 7.5 I took. I have taken no other medication today and am otherwise in very good health.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You have toothache and are advised to take Hydrocodon APAP (7.5/325). The drug consists of Hydrocodon and Paracetamol. Hydrocodon is a good opioid analgesic while Paracetamol is also a NSAID analgesic. The drug have excellent roles in toothache.
Diazepam is advised by a friend and the drug is a benzodiazepine drug with sedative and hypnotic action. It doesn't have any analgesic action, so I don't think the drug will help in your pain. Secondly it is not prescribed by your doctor so you should not take it.
Taking both drugs together can precipitate severe sedation. I would advise you to consult your doctor for pain.

Thanks
