Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.Ratnakar and I am pleased to assist you.
No, you should not give oflox syrup to your baby.
Most often the diarrhea in a 6 month old baby is due to viral infection and it will resolve on its own in a few days. Continue giving rice and toor dal.
The most important thing you have to do is assess the hydration status. If the urine output is decreased, if the tongue is dry and if the soft spot on the scalp is depressed, it indicates dehydration. Give him enough fluids including electrolyte solutions like electrobion in sips to prevent dehydration. If dehydration is persisting or if he keeps vomiting, the take to a doctor immediately.
Regards,
Dr.Ratnakar
