Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I had very severe GERD as a teenager which resulted in having a Nissen Fundoplication when I was 18. I have been symptom free since, until about 7 months ago (I am now 44). My symptoms have returned, and are very severe. I have been trying to control it with OTC medication, but without success. I have not seen my doctor yet, because I am not sure if there is anything that can be done. Can a fundoplication be re-done ? Are there other options? I was medicated the first time for several years. The various medications either didn t work, or had severe side effects. Thank you
8% of patients with post fundoplication may reoccur if symptoms are present. This may be due to slipped fundus from wrap or it may be due to wrap around the stomach. So, you have to recheck about your fundus status.
