Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can I Reduce Sotalol Dose To Overcome Its Side Effects?
I have been taking sotalol for 4 days for a fib and flutter after having a cardioversion that put me back in rhythm, I am suffering the common side effects, slow heart rate, low 50s, weight gain, fatigue, asthma meds not working well. 120 mg twice daily. can I safely reduce dose to 1 tab daily ?
The effects you mentioned are very likely to be caused by the drug however you should not reduce the dose without your doc advice.
These side effects may wear off with time, but as the half-life of sotalol is not very much, so it does not cover the whole day, so we advise to take it twice a day. You cant talk to your doctor if the symptoms are too troublesome.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
