Can I Take 2.5 Mg Instead Of Prescribed 10 Mg For Lowering Blood Pressure On Taking Lisinipril?

I am on lisinipril after weaning myself off atenenol. I feel better now that im not so tired but I went to my dr today and my blood pressure was 146/90 still high so my dr said try 10 mg. im a bit of a freak when it comes to trying new meds can I cut another 5 mg in half and take one in a half.

hi, thank u for approaching healthcare magic team. I agree that Lisinopril is a better alternative to Atenolol. but before switching to Lisinopril, get your serum creatinine and potassium checked and make sure that your kidney is functioning well. then for dose titration check your BP at least for 3 days in the morning before and after taking the tablet and see that your BP is less than 140/ 90. you can go for the next dose of Lisinopril that is 5 mg instead of directly jumping to 10 mg. please take care that titration has to be monitored by physician. thank you and please get back for further queries
