Can Kalms Medicine Be Taken By A Teenager While On Citalopram?

hi hi my daughter is nearly 18 and takes 20mg citalopram. She has got a driving test coming up and her instructor has told her to take Kalms. Is it safe for her to do this as I’m not sure and don’t want it messing with her citalopram Many thanks

Hello,

Citalopram affects serotonin levels in the brain. Some herbal supplements, including those in Kalms, may also have an impact on serotonin levels. Combining substances that affect serotonin can lead to a condition called serotonin syndrome, which can be serious. Hence, you should avoid taking both simultaneously.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
