Can Lasix Be Taken For Shortness Of Breath And Chest Pain?

If I am having SOB and chest pain, can I take a Lasix. I am on losartan, metoprolol, colchicine and allopurinol. I have a PMH of CHF, EF 25, HTN,sleep apnea, RBB, multiple abdominal hernia operations. I did not have health insurance for a long time but now I am going for sleep study and PPM with defib implant. I had Cardiac cath, no blocks, no stents placed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Lasix is a diuretic and it I used to lower the blood pressure. It is not the specific treatment in case of a chest pain. I would recommend Nitroglycerin. It is usually taken as a tablet under the tongue and relaxes heart arteries, so blood can flow more easily through the narrowed spaces.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
