Hello,
Severe penile and scrotal swelling in older patients after Lasix injection is a medical emergency. Yes, allergic reactions to Lasix (
angioedema or severe edema) can cause sudden swelling in unusual places. Get clinically examined by your treating doctor or go to ER as you need to get re- evaluated. Such swellings can cause circulation to be compromised or may cause infection like
cellulitis etc.
You need to be treated. Such a symptom is indicative of severe
hypoalbuminemia, venous or lymphatic obstruction, worsening
heart failure or sever kidney or liver dysfunction. Get examined and re-evaluated and also get blood tests (kidney, liver, albumin, electrolytes),
ultrasound of the scrotum, etc. They may need to do blood tests (kidney, liver, albumin, electrolytes), ultrasound of the scrotum, and possibly adjust or stop the Lasix.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
