Can Levothyroxine And Propranolol Be Taken Together?

I have been on Levothyroxine for 25 years, 88 mcg daily. I have been experiencing migraines for the past two years. They have become more intense and almost daily for 8 to 10 hours. I have been on topiramate, nortriptiline, venlafaxine, all of which I experienced terrible side effects from. I am now on 10 mg propranolol twice daily to start. My questions is if I can take both the levothyroxine and propranolol at the same time?

Hello,

Levothyroxine and propranolol should not be taken together. Levothyroxine should be taken in the morning on an empty stomach with a glass of water at least one-half hour before any food is eaten. Since propranolol may interfere with the absorption of levothyroxine, it should be taken after the meals at least four hours apart from that of levothyroxine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
