Can Lipitor, Metformin ER And Dexilant Cause Bradycardia?

Lipitor 20, metformin er 1000, dexilant 60. Can they cause low heartbeat and palpitations? I m allergic to all beta-blockers. Caused me two hospital stays until a third cardiologist found I am severely allergic to them. Was on micardis 40 for eight years that controlled my bp 120/80. Some drug above cause my heartbeat to go into the 50 s and heart palpitations. I stopped the micardis 2 weeks. On day 2 my heartbeat went back to normal 75/80. Palpitations were still there. Bp now high 140/90. Help !!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Dexilant has been known to cause bradycardia in a small percentage of patients.

If there is no other apparent cause for your bradycardia, I would suspect that this may be the cause, and you could try switching to another medication for acid reflux.

If it were just the bradycardia, I would say a heart rate about 50 is probably nothing to worry about, but if you are having palpitations as well, it would probably be worth switching medications.

You should probably also have an EKG done to make sure that you don't have any heart block or signs of any heart disease.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
