Can Macrobid Be Taken During Pregnancy?

Hi, my name is Olga. I am 13 weeks of pregnancy. Got Enterococcus faecalis 10,000-50,000. my OB prescribed macrobid 100mg bid for 10 days. i am wondering if I really need to take anb? I read a lot of forums on Russian medical sites. They treat this bacteria not all the time w/antibiotic, moreover Macrobid just recommended for second trimester. I need second opinion. Because here is just one way - DOCTOR prescribe ANTIBIOTOC, no any vaginal antiseptic suppository or something else

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are wondering if Macrobid be taken during pregnancy. Well Macrobid is an antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. Macrobid is used to treat urinary tract infections. It can be taken upto last month of pregnancy . It is not recommended in last trimester of pregnant specially last month of pregnancy . So you can take it at present . Also consult your gynecologist before taking macrobid . Gynecologist will do your complete evaluation and start treatment accordingly. Drink plenty of water and fluids.
