Can Macrobid Cause A Delayed Period?

Hi Dr. I was on macrobid twice a day for 7 days and then again another cycle of it for 7 more days. I was finally done and supposed to start my period 3 days later and now I am 5 days late. Is this common. I am in my 40 s. I have been on macrobid before and don t recall this ever happening, but have read others comments online and apparently this is common... your thoughts??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Delayed period is not the usual side effect of Macrobid, but the secondary metabolic changes following primary disease may alter the menstrual pattern and Macrobid can be a secondary role player in this issue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
