Can Prevacid Stop Working After Some Time ?

Hello ~ I've been taking acid blocking medications for nearly 14 years due to gastric ulcer (initially took Aciphex then Protonix, but insurance would not cover so changes had to made) I currently have been taking Prevacid 30mg once a day for the past 5 years ... I have had great results without ANY issues of burning within the stomach; and can eat anything all this time ... last week, the burning began again suddenly, after waking with a choking feeling in the middle of the night ~ it is now, to the point of constant ... began to take gaviscon for some relief ... Can the Prevacid stop working ? Thank you ~

Hi. Prevacid can not stop working. What wonders me is the necessity for taking such medicines for such a long period of time. You really need to check with the Gasto-enterologist for the underlying cause of such a long standing acidity problems. If you have to take acid blockers for more than 6 months, you need to check with the help of CT scan other probable causes like gall stones, pancreatic and other problems.
