Can Propranolol Cause Difficulty In Swallowing?

I have been taking propranolol since 2008 and now experiencing difficulty swallowing. It is getting worse. I have lost over 20 lbs since July. What can I do about this? Should I change medications? If I do change will my swallowing improve or did the medicince damage my ability to swallow?

I read your query and I understand your concern.

However there is no reason to think your dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) is related to Propranolol, it's not a side effect of the drug.
I think you should see your doctor to investigate about the cause of your dysphagia. Several possible causes like conditions of the esophagus and pharynx as well as in certain neurological conditions. Given also your loss of weight I think it should be taken seriously and physical exam and diagnostic procedures shouldn't be delayed.

I hope to have been of help.
