Hi, During my depression, my eating has been getting out of control. I ve felt anxiety and agitated, then guilty and even more depressed. I ve started fluoxetine, Prozac today. Will taking this drug help me lose or gain more weight, I m already 20 kgs over weight. Is there something else I can take to decrease my appetite?
Fluoxetine is a good antidepressant for those who have weight issues. Generally during first 20 weeks of use it helps you to lose weight but classically patients regain the lost weight after few months. So it can be said that it is weight neutral. You continue with your diet management and routine exercise which will help you with both your depression and weight gain rather than seeking another medication.
'Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help". Thanks
