Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am currently on 16 MG of Suboxon , and due to my situation I have been subscribed Strattera 18 MG as well. I trust my Doctor and I ve looked on the Web but I haven t found any comments with regards is it safe to take both Suboxon and Strattera together. In you opinion is it safe to do so? Thank you, Daniel.
Hi & Welcome. It is not safe to take these medications together. Suboxone which contains Buprenorphine and Naloxone used to treat symptoms of opioid withdrawal and de-addiction of heroin and other narcotic drugs.
When taken along with Suboxone, Strattera may interact with Buprenorphine which can increase the risk of arrhythmia (an irregular heart rhythm) that may be serious and potentially life-threatening.
The risk of this increases manyfold if you have a prolonged QT interval, other heart diseases, conduction abnormalities, or electrolyte disturbances (for example, magnesium or potassium loss due to severe or prolonged diarrhea or vomiting).
So, in view of the above consult a psychiatrist for further evaluation so that this harmful interaction can be avoided.
Hope this answers your query.
