Can Telmisartan Cause Persistent Sneezing?

I have developed persistent sneezing while on this medication. Of course my cold started with sneezes, and became a runny nose. But now, after six days of a cold, the sneezing has become worse. Is this possibly a side effect. My pulse rate has gone up to 100. I am 88 years old and fairly fit. The only other signs and med that I am on is Telmesartin, and that has not had to be changed for over a year

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Sneezing is a very rare side effect of telmisartan and if i were your treating physician, i would prescribe you some anti allergy drug (i.e. cetrizine, etc.) and check for the response, because sneezing alone can not be a side effect of telmisartan. As far as my experience is concerned, i have never seen a patient having this side effect of telmisartan.
So, better you can have a 3 day course of anti allergy drug and wait for the response rather than discontinuing telmisartan.
Hope this will help you.
