Can A PET Scan Test Detect The Stages Of Pancreatic Cancer?

Hello, I m Dawn, My brother in law had a pet scan an got results today. He has pancreatic cancer. He is going to Beaumont hospital on tuesday for a consultation on the whipple procedure. The doctor said it is not stage 4. From reading the information on this page (if I understand correctly) He would only be in stage 1?

PET scan is an investigation done to know the extent of spread of tumour cells, which would help to stage the cancer.
According to the stage of cancer, treatment protocol is drawn, which could include surgery with radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy.
Kindly consult Oncologist for appropriate evaluation and management.
