Can A Cut On A Child's Lip Due To Falling Be Dangerous?

Hi Doc
My daughter aged 20 months had a fall from the bed & hit a glass bottle on the floor & ended up cutting her lower lip from outside just below the lining of the lower lip & from inside is swollen & a bit blue. the bleeding stopped the cut is about less than a cm please advise

Hi Dear
welcome to the HCM,
if the wound is not bleeding thenneed to panic.
Some anlagesic antinflammatory drug for the inflammation is required along with a relevant antibiotic.application of some antibacterial cream over the wound will suffice. It will take 4 to 6 days to heal.
Take care of the Tetanus Toxoid Vaccination ,Only if the Ist booster vaccine is still due.

Hi,

Injury to the lip requires first aid and an antibiotic to prevent infection.
Ibuprofen may be given to reduce swelling.
Any injury on the face heals quickly because of rich blood supply.
