Can A Flesh Dropping On The Side Of Uvula Causing Choking On Food Be Removed?

I have flesh dropping down by the left side of my Uvula. This condition has existed since about 2007. On several occasions a portion of it has come off and it will bleed a little and be a little less noticeable. I had my tonsils out at age 5 and thought it may have something to do with that. It sometimes causes me to choke on food and interfere when I am talking. What can a doctor do to remove it permanently?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, recurrent issues with the chocking sensation over the uvula and tonsil is subjective to surface erosions or abnormalities. After thorough clinical examination, I do recommend laser therapy for the permanent solution of the same. Though primary relief can be best obtained with:
- Gargles with salted lukewarm water
- Peppermint oil use

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
