Can A Fracture Cause Numbness And A Bruise On The Leg?

Good evening. I am a 49 year old female. i was in a horrific car accident at age 15 in which one of the injuries was a compound fracture in my right tibia and fibula. I also later found out a couple of years later that I alos had a fracture under my right knee cap. The ortho doctor set the bones (no pins, plates or screws). I spent almost two years in a cast. My right leg is about 1/4 inch shorter than the left leg. I was at the gym three weeks ago and used their shaker machine . I basically stood on this crazy vibrating base for ten minutes. I knew that something was wrong almost immediately after I exited the machine. Since then, I have had horrible bruising in the area that had been broken. I also have numbness in the area as well as in my ankle, foot and toes. My leg and foot have a yellowish blue tint and feel as if I am walking differently on my right foot. Could I have broken my leg? What should it do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

A compound fracture can cause nerve impingement and thus cause numbness.

If symptoms are severe, it is better to consult an orthopedician and plan for an MRI scan for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
