Can A Pierced Penis Cause Chronic Bladder Infections?

I am getting chronic bladder infections. My boyfriend has a pierced penis- can the piercing be causing me to get these infections? I am seeing a urologist and on medication - I do urinate after intercourse but continue to get the infections. I didn t ask my dr. initially about the piercing and am not seeing her again for another month.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, the pricing can be causing a chronic bladder infection.

I suggest doing a urine culture to confirm the diagnosis.

If the diagnosis is confirmed, I suggest using a cycle of antibiotics to treat the infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
