Can A Roux Ny Cause The Celiac And Splenic Arteries To Become Stenosed?

Hi, These questions are for a vascular and or bariatric surgeon please. I had the roux-n-y in 2003 then the reversal of the roux-n-y/partial vertical gastrectomy in 2008. I found out in 2010 that my celiac and splenic arteries are 100% stenosed. I ve been told I need surgery to have them bypassed and some other surgeons have disagreed. I ve been getting worse and have been in and out of the hospital 17 times since surgery. My question is the following: Can a roux-n-y cause the celiac and splenic arteries to become stenosed? the reason why I ask this is because the same symptoms I had before surgery got 10x s worse afterwards and I ve been going down hill since. My heart doctor that did the angiogram in the OR said it looks like my artery was severed and sewn bk together to try and cover up what the surgeon did wrong in surgery and doesn t want to admit. Is this possible? My heart doctor thinks the roux-n-y caused the blockages and the last surgery pushed everything over the edge. What do you think? Also, is celiac disease and celiac artery stenosis connected in anyway? I was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2007(having it for 23 yrs)before I was even diagnosed. I noticed a huge difference right away, then everything backfired. What s your take on this? Please contact me at the following email please. YYYY@YYYY . You can also call at my private number which is 219678-5001. Thank you for your help in anyway you can. My age is 27, Height is 5 61/2 and I ve had 6 surgeries all of which we re finding out should ve never been done. I m going to be doing chelations to help undo the blocked arteries. Sincerely, Melody Morris

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

On an average Roux en Y procedure is not routinely associated with the stenosis of the celiac and splenic arteries, still there can be remote possibility of the same in some odd cases and the same has to be evaluated with the MRI arteriography. Take care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
