Can A Syrinx In C4-5,c5-6 Extending From C4-5 Inferiorly To The C6-7 Be Concerned?
Hi! I am 63, female...fell in Jan.,2012..concussion head and neck pain and lower back....fell hit head on metal footbar and then the marble floor....haven't worked since....MRI 3wks. ago found a small syrinx in C4-5,c5-6..extending from c4-5 inferiorly to the c6-7...having pain and weakness in my shoulders.
Hello, As you telling you had neck and concussionhead injury in 2012. Did you had any new problem 3 weeks ago for which MRI was done ?
if syrinx from c4-c7 may be incidently detected on MRI. Might be it be present since long before, but undetected. But it need close observation by repeat MRI at 6 months to look whether its increasing or not. Also need to get MRI Brain to look for any associated bulbar syrinx and any feature of arnold chiari malformation.
If syrinx size increases -> it may require surgical intervention If it not increase--> Can be left untouched
